"We look for evidence of the following: Knowledge of subject matter, knowledge of national standards, knowledge of research-based instructional strategies and techniques for teaching math or science, evidence of hands-on planning and practice, and techniques or strategies to meet special needs of students in the classroom."

"Keep the focus of your interview on the student-not on the content or on the teacher."

"A strong desire to work with students and their families and collaborate with educators to ensure student success.

"Indications that they can relate to students, both personally and contextually. Students need to feel that their teachers are interested in them personally as well as academically. The ability to relate material to 'real life' situations and needs is also more and more important."
